Custom Steel Service Pits

One of our good customers came to us with a problem.

They wanted to expand their business, and part of this expansion required some in ground custom steel service pits. However – due to concerns with the water table on their site – these pits needed to be designed from steel rather than concrete panels.

ITSS Engineering was up for this challenge. Firstly – designing the drawings for approval by the owner and certification by a structural engineer to provide a PS4. Secondly considering efficient fabrication, and appropriate coating specification. Lastly, considering transportation and lifting of the items – because these were going to have to be delivered from Warkworth to Waipapa.

At 25.5 metres long each, these weren’t straightforward to move or lift. Significant consideration needed to be made – not only for transportation on delivery, but also during fabrication inside our workshop to ensure all lifts were completed safely for our team.

Following design approval, the custom steel service pits were fabricated by our certified welders, painted to specification with dryfilm paint thicknesses recorded & paint report provided, transported to site and unloaded using assistance from our team within ITSS Engineering. All on time and on budget to continue supporting our customers successful expansion.
